Philosophy of Tomatoes via the Death and Life of Bones

philosophy is the ability

to Take a distance

(more than a step back)

and Say something complex

about the simplest of the every day

just as

the export of buried peoples’ bones from India

to medical schools in North America

Speaks to

the migration

of small farmers from Mexico

to grow hydroponic tomatoes

in Ontario.

  1. Hey, Salimah!

That’s awesome that you just came back from the Philippines, and I loved your definition of “philosophy” in your poem! Very elegant! Glad to know you’re back home🙂
